About Dr Christina

Dr Christina Ng Van Tze, MBBS (Melb), FRACP, is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Medical Director at Onco Life Centre, Kuala Lumpur — a specialist oncology clinic she founded in 2016.

Australian-trained at the University of Melbourne, Dr Christina completed her MBBS in 1992 and was selected by the Victorian Medical Oncology Training Group for Advanced Specialist Training in Medical Oncology in 2000. She earned Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2002 — the highest standard of specialist certification in Australia and New Zealand.

Before returning to Malaysia, Dr Christina served as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at St. Vincent’s and Mercy Private Hospital, Epworth Cancer Center, and Freemason’s Hospital in Melbourne. She was also a Medical Oncology Research Fellow at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and the Austin Research Institute — two of Australia’s leading oncology research centres. Earlier in her training, she worked at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

She returned to Malaysia in 2003 as Consultant Medical Oncologist and Senior Lecturer at University Malaya Medical Centre, and served as Honorary Consultant to the Clinical Research Centre, Ministry of Health Malaysia. Since founding Onco Life Centre in 2016, she has served as its Medical Director, leading a specialist team in personalised cancer treatment across all major cancer types.

Dr Christina’s clinical practice focuses on personalised cancer treatment planning, cancer genomics, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and psycho-oncology support. Her primary cancer specialisations are:

Clinical Trials

Dr Christina has served as Principal Investigator across 17 international and national multi-centre trials, working with global pharmaceutical sponsors including Roche, GSK, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Wyeth, Novartis, and Merck.

In 2005–2006, she authored and led Malaysia’s first investigator-initiated cancer trial — a Phase 2 study on nasopharyngeal carcinoma conducted across 8 government and private centres nationwide, supported by a Major Research Grant from the Ministry of Health Malaysia and Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals USA.

National Guidelines & Publications

Dr Christina is the Lead Author of the National Specialist Guidelines for Medical Oncology in Malaysia, adopted by the Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2006.

Cancer Advocacy

In 2009, Dr Christina founded Empowered — The Cancer Advocacy Society of Malaysia.

Through Empowered, she has personally led colorectal cancer screening and treatment programs that have reached over 100,000 low-income Malaysians across Sentul, Selayang, Cheras, Ampang, and Lembah Subang. The society’s founding launch was officiated by the Director General of the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

She also authored My Journal — a multilingual patient resource available in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Tamil — distributed free to over 10,000 cancer patients across government hospitals in Malaysia. Its second edition was officially launched by Malaysia’s Deputy Health Minister.
