Dr. Christina Ng Van Tze

Dr. Christina Ng Van Tze, MBBS (Melb), FRACP, is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Medical Director at Onco Life Centre, Kuala Lumpur. She brings over 30 years of clinical and research experience to her practice, with a professional background rooted in Australia’s most prestigious cancer institutions and a career-long commitment to expanding access to high-quality oncology care in Malaysia.

Dr. Ng completed her entire medical training at the University of Melbourne, graduating with her MBBS in 1992. She was selected by the Victorian Medical Oncology Training Group for Advanced Specialist Training in Medical Oncology in 2000, and earned Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2002 — a qualification that represents the highest standard of medical specialist certification in Australia and New Zealand.

Before returning to Malaysia, Dr. Ng served as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at St. Vincent’s and Mercy Private Hospital, Epworth Cancer Center, and Freemason’s Hospital in Melbourne. She also served as a Medical Oncology Research Fellow at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and the Austin Research Institute — two of Australia’s foremost oncology research centres. Earlier in her career, she trained at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Clinical Excellence at Onco Life Centre

Since founding Onco Life Centre in 2016, Dr. Ng has led the centre as Medical Director, specialising in personalised cancer treatment planning, cancer genomics and targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and psycho-oncology support. Her clinical focus areas include breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer.

She has served as Principal Investigator across 17 international and national multi-centre trials, working with global pharmaceutical sponsors including Roche, GSK, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Wyeth, Novartis, and Merck. In 2005–2006, she authored and led Malaysia’s first investigator-initiated cancer trial, a Phase 2 study on nasopharyngeal carcinoma across 8 government and private centres nationwide, supported by a Major Research Grant from the Ministry of Health and Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals USA.

Cancer Advocacy at Scale

In 2009, Dr. Ng founded Empowered, The Cancer Advocacy Society of Malaysia, a national organisation with a mission to deliver cancer screening and treatment access to under-resourced communities. Through Empowered, she has personally led colorectal cancer screening and treatment programs that have reached over 100,000 low-income Malaysians across Sentul, Selayang, Cheras, Ampang, and Lembah Subang.

Her community health work was recognised in 2013 when Women’s Weekly awarded her the “Great Women of Our Times” Award in the Health, Sports & Wellness category. Dr. Ng also authored “My Journal”, a multilingual (English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Tamil) patient resource distributed to over 10,000 cancer patients across government hospitals in Malaysia. Its second edition was officially launched by Malaysia’s Deputy Health Minister.

International Recognition

Dr. Ng has co-chaired and spoken at the World Conference on Lung Cancer (IASLC) in Vienna (2016) and Yokohama (2017), representing Malaysia on the global stage for patient access and advocacy. She is a regular delegate at ESMO Congresses, most recently ESMO 2025 in Berlin.

Her peer-reviewed publications appear in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the Medical Journal of Australia, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, the Journal of Pharmacy Technology, and the Asia Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention.
